Brian George Lichtenwalner, 31, was taken into custody on multiple bench warrants out of Monroe County, authorities said.

Lichtenwalner had been sought on charges related to disarming a law enforcement officer, possessing drugs in a prison, and various DUI offenses when Bethlehem police learned he was in the city on Wednesday morning.

Authorities surrounded the residence around 10 a.m. but could not convince Lichtenwalner to come out or speak with them, BPD said.

By around 2:30 p.m., police were warning residents to avoid the area.

Finally, by 7 p.m., an Emergency Response Team entered the house and a dog team found Lichtenwalner hiding in a closet on the third floor, according to the department.

The 31-year-old is being held at the Lehigh County jail pending extradition to Monroe County, and will likely face additional charges related to the standoff, authorities said.
